General Consul visits the Balıkesir Region
On March 19-20, 2025, the Consul General of Georgia in Istanbul, Aleksandre Jishkariani, visited the Balıkesir region as part of his consular district tour, where he held meetings with local authorities, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the administration of Bandırma Port, and representatives of the Georgian diaspora.
During meetings with Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu and Mayor Ahmet Akın, discussions focused on economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the possibility of organizing Georgian Cultural Days in Balıkesir later this year.
At the meeting with Nazmi Yarış, President of the Balıkesir Chamber of Industry, the parties discussed trade, economic, and investment cooperation prospects. The Consul General provided the Turkish side with information on Georgia’s ongoing economic reforms and attractive investment climate, emphasizing the importance of business meetings between private sector representatives.
The Consul General also visited Bandırma Port, where he held meetings with port administration officials, customs, border control, and other relevant service representatives. Notably, Bandırma Port is one of the key strategic ports in the Republic of Türkiye.
Additionally, the Consul General met with members of the Armutalan Solidarity and Culture Association, a Georgian diaspora organization. The meeting highlighted the importance of diaspora organizations in fostering people-to-people connections and strengthening bilateral relations, including trade and economic cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Türkiye.
