Welcome to the official website of the Consulate General of Georgia in Istanbul (Republic of Turkey).
The General Consulate of Georgia in Istanbul was opened in 1998. The coverage area of the General Consulate is Istanbul, Edirne, Tekirdag, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Yalova, Bursa, Balikesir, Canakale, Sakaria, Bilecek, Kutahia, Manisa and Ushak districts. The main priority of the Consulate General in Istanbul is to protect the rights and interests of Georgian citizens and legal entities, promote the development of relations between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey in such areas as economy, trade, humanitarian and cultural ties, tourism, deepening ties with the diaspora and supporting the activities of diaspora organizations.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey were restored on May 21, 1992. Since Georgia gained independence, strong relations have been established between the two countries. The cooperation between Georgia and Turkey is of a strategic nature and is successfully developing in the political, trade-economic, defense and cultural-humanitarian fields.
