The Beykoz International Folklore Festival
Within the framework of cultural cooperation between the Consulate General of Georgia in Istanbul and the relevant local government bodies, Georgian folklore ensembles participated in the Beykoz International Folklore Festival from July 2 to 6, 2025.
Notably, one of the festival days was declared “Georgia Day” and was entirely dedicated to the impressive performances of Georgian creative groups. Three Georgian ensembles took the stage, receiving acclaim from both the audience and the jury.
As part of the competition, the Georgian ensemble “Mareti” won first place. The winners were awarded by Tuncer Yılmaz, Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Federation of Folk Dances.
The event was attended by Zakaria Megrelishvili, Consul of the Consulate General of Georgia; the Deputy Mayor of Beykoz; representatives of the Istanbul Municipality’s Department of Culture; as well as members of the Turkish Federation of Folk Dances and the Georgian diaspora.
